Janet Oyella,
DFS and Agro-Value Chains Consultant

Janet is a digital financial services and agro-value chain specialist with over 4 years of experience. Based in Uganda, she is zealous about financial inclusion through driving scalable uptake of affordable and sustainable innovative solutions to enhance inclusivity, income generation and improve livelihoods, focusing on women, SMEs and fintechs.

She is a co-lead in driving last-mile financial literacy trainings of Digital Champion Entrepreneurs (DCEs) using the Hey Sister Toolkit. Janet has supported SIA with an assessment of the potential of digital platforms and utilizing movable assets (cattle) in agricultural financing for livestock farmers. In addition, she has experience in digitizing agricultural value chains, designing digital finance solutions for smallholder farmers, and transitioning organizations’ programmatic and operational costs from cash to digital. She has also supported the team in the development and implementation of an electronic payment system and oversaw the routine program monitoring activities with private institutions as well as B2C clients, leading to new developments and implementation of DFS.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Makerere University, a certificate in Foundations for Gender Equity from Digital Frontiers Institute in South Africa, and a certificate in Organizations and Gender from Digital Frontiers Institute in South Africa. She is currently pursuing a post-graduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from the Uganda Management Institute.
